Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center Adds a Pair to Its Senior Management Team

Spotsylvania, Virginia, September 8, 2008 – While construction crews stay busy building the walls of Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, CEO Tim Tobin is doing his part by building the hospital’s senior leadership team.

Last week Tobin announced that Sean Thomson will join the hospital September 1 as its Chief Financial Officer and that Terika Richardson will become its Chief Operating Officer effective October 1.  Thomson has been serving as CFO at 227-bed Retreat Hospital in Richmond and Richardson as Associate Administrator at 187-bed Reston Hospital.  Both are HCA facilities.

“Sean and Terika are perfect fits for their new roles,” said Tobin.  “They bring to our team significant professional experience, a thorough knowledge of HCA and the high standard of care that our culture entails, and a strong work ethic.  They’ll be welcome additions not only to the hospital, but also to the community.”

Thomson joined HCA in 1995 as a Staff Accountant at Frankfort (KY) Regional Medical Center and has also served in the company’s Internal Audit Department and as Controller of its Central Atlantic Division.  He received his bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Public Accountant.  He, wife Jill and their three children, Jack, Ella and Lucy will be relocating to the area soon.

Richardson joined HCA in 2005 following stints with North Shore LIJ Health System in Manhasset, NY; Forefront Strategic Consulting in Detroit, MI; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in Detroit, MI; and University of Michigan Hospital and Health Care Systems in Ann Arbor, MI.   She received her bachelor’s of science degree in biopsychology and cognitive science from the University of Michigan and her master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health.  She and her husband, Dr. Ibe Mbanu, will likewise relocate to the region.

In July, Tobin had announced his first management appointment, Lisa Seay, as Vice President of Development.  The hospital is slated to open its doors June 2010.
